Alyson Stanfield

October is National Women's Small Business Month!

Each week, we will be featuring a female Connects member who owns their own business.

What is your business?

Art Biz Success. I help artists gain recognition and increase their income.

When and why did you start your own business?

After working as a curator and educator at three different art museums for ten years, I started my business when I made a deliberate move to Denver in 2001, just before 9/11. It started as an art consulting business—I was going to purchase art for businesses (e.g. hotels and bank lobbies). When artists got wind of what I was doing, they came to me in hopes that I could place their art in these businesses. I quickly realized that their presentation was sorely lacking. They needed help! Art Biz Success (then Art Biz Coach) was born in March 2002.

What is the secret to your success?

The secret to my success is evolution. I am not content with the status quo. I seek continual improvement and want to do better by my clients and be better as a business owner and human.
