Navigating Remote Work Options

We are in a shifting world where employers are being asked to offer multiple workplace options to their employees. It is now common to work for a company that is in a completely different state - or country, for that matter. There are many reasons companies may choose to allow remote work: the pool of recruitment is vast when you do not need to account for proximity to the office; the overhead expense of office space can be reduced; and many potential hires expect flexibility in their work location.

While there is a freedom that comes with the remote work lifestyle, it still has its limitations. This is where coworking can support both the remote worker and companies that have chosen to allow remote work.

Coworking spaces have been around for over 15 years but have gained a strong foothold in society for less than a decade. When I founded Connects Workspace in 2015, not only did I get the opportunity to share what Connects Workspace was all about, but also to define what the term “coworking” even meant. Coworking spaces are typically membership-based, much like a gym. They provide private office space, open-space desk seating (similar to a coffee shop), meeting space, and other office amenities like virtual assistance and printing.

The benefits of coworking to remote workers are the ability to be around other professionals, work in a space that has been intentionally curated to get focused work done, have an opportunity to meet new people, and get out of the house.

The benefits for companies that allow remote work include a flex space for in-person meetings, flexible memberships that can ebb and flow based on the number of staff, and a professional space that is managed by the coworking operators, alleviating the need for a traditional lease.

Connects Workspace has a downtown Golden location and will be opening a new location at the I-70 / Red Rocks exit. If you find yourself interested in seeing if coworking might be a fit for you, come on in for a tour.
